Abstract

Vibratory finishing bowl is a machine used to carry out the surface smoothing process on workpieces using hard and abrasive finishing media. The purpose of this design is to overcome various problems that occur in the VZ50 vibratory engine chamber using the revers engineering method. The evaluation results of the VZ50 chamber found several problems such as, erosion of chamber material, easily clogged water channels, difficulty in obtaining spare part chambers, the duration of the indent of spare part chambers, polyurethane materials used in making chambers have a relatively short life. From the results of the analysis, the author decided to design a chamber that has SS400 material with larger water channels and a chamber design that is more economical and efficient without replacing important parts such as springs and vibration motors, from the calculation of the mass of the new chamber 16.07% lighter than the old chamber and the oscillation motion in the new chamber design is 1.6% greater than the old design.
