Abstract

The development of digitalization has a positive impact with online investment activities through an investment application platform. It is important for investors to have financial literacy and financial behavior towards investment decision making due to fluctuating market conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of financial literacy and financial behavior consisting of risk tolerance, overconfidence, and herding on mutual fund investment decisions of generation Z in Jabodetabek. This study used primary data by distributing online questionnaires to 170 respondents of generation Z mutual fund investors born in 1994-2005 domiciled in Jabodetabek. Data analysis in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that financial literacy and overconfidence had a significant positive effect on investment decisions, risk tolerance had an insignificant effect on investment decisions and herding did not have a significant effect on investment decisions. In making mutual fund investment decisions, generation Z in Jabodetabek is expected to balance their excessive confidence level by not ignoring the risks faced in making mutual fund investment decisions and anticipating actions following the decisions of other investors.
