VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL APPLICATION UTILIZING SCHNORR SIGNCRYPTION FOR KEY DISTRIBUTION AND LOGIN
Abstract
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a mean for low-cost communication. However, there are
some emerging security threats that require protection. The use of signing-thenencrypting/
decrypting approach in VoIP application takes much time. To that end, researchers
proposed signcryption, a more lighweight method, which applies signing and encrypting at one
time. In this work, we have developed and analyzed a secure VoIP application, hereinafter called
SVOIP-SS, that implements Schnorr signcryption scheme for the key distribution and the login
process. The testing results showed that SVOIP-SS outperformed the other VoiP application in term
of processing time and bandwidth use both for authentication and key exchange process.
